How to Connect with Recruiters on LinkedIn â€"Two Approaches Most of my resume and LinkedIn profile clients want to know how to connect with recruiters on LinkedIn. Once youve found a good prospect, heres what you can do:How to Connect with Recruiters on LinkedIn â€" the Warm-UpBefore you start reaching out:Optimize your profile to attract recruiters and prevent them from finding other candidates via your profile.Then, join the Recruiter.com Network group on LinkedIn. With roughly 900,000 members, it will give you a slightly warm connection to many of your recruiters of interest.Finally, follow the recruiters company on LinkedIn.How to Connect with Recruiters on LinkedIn â€" CautiousFollowing your warm-up, InMail the recruiter the following message:Dear Donna,I understand you conduct national searches for CFOs. I’m a CFO and thus would like to connect with you on LinkedIn.With your permission, I will send you an invitation to connect. If this works for you, please let me know via your reply to this message.Thank you,John DoeHow to Connect wi th Recruiters on LinkedIn â€" BoldOr, send the recruiter an invitation to connect, along with the following message:Dear Donna,I understand you conduct national searches for CFOs. I’m a CFO and thus would like to connect with you on LinkedIn.Thank you,John DoeYou can do this via the Connect button on their profile.If you dont see a Connect button, click on the three buttons to the right of their photo. You should find a Connect option there.Dont Waste Your TimeCheck the recruiters profile for signs of life:Are they a Premium member with a gold In badge to the left of their name?Does their profile show any recent activity?If not, they might have sourcers  or researchers who spend their time on LinkedIn while they work with clients and candidates. If thats the case, try to find that person and connect with them. They will be the person charged with finding you.Stay Out of Jail  When I invite strangers to connect, I give them 30 days to respond, then I withdraw my invitation.I keep a bout 40 outstanding invitations on my account and Ive never had a problem with LinkedIn freezing it for spamming potential connections.I dont know what the upper limit of outstanding invitations is, nor do I know how many you can send in a 24-hour period.You can test the limits once if you want. If you get frozen, LinkedIn will probably restore your account. Ive never wanted to go there. I know people who have had their accounts frozen.
